Piston Ring Function

Piston ring serves as a seal between the piston and cylinder wall. To prevent sticking piston in the cylinder. If there is pressure on the piston rings, intake and combustion gases to leak. Causing some power loss. It also serves to sweep the oil off the cylinder walls as the piston moves down. And a cooling off of the piston. By heat transfer from the piston to the cylinder wall causes the piston temperature is not too high to damage engines.
